Virgil recently completed his grand project, The Dawn Of Time - Orchestral Works.
This recording places the drums at the center of a vast, contemporary orchestral production. A combination of amazing musicians and orchestral virtual instruments bring to life this massive musical undertaking. The orchestral instrumentation, textures, timbres, create a soundscape that beautifully enhances the rhythmic explorations of the drums. The bass and drums are the driving force behind this music, with the orchestra arousing emotions, taking the listener on a transcendent journey. The album also features Virgil playing piano on all tracks, including his first solo piano composition, Prelude No.1.
“To me, orchestral music has other layers to it. It’s so emotive… you see images. The greatest music doesn’t just move you with melody and rhythm…it conjures things up…thoughts, feelings, images, experiences memories…these other ways of inhabiting the world.”
The CD version of “The Dawn Of Time” features indexes for movements within the longer tracks, allowing convenient navigation of the album. Therefore the CD totals 14 tracks, but the program is the same as the 5-track digital download.
The CD also includes a color 12 panel poster fold.
